Brantford, ON – The independent Task Force leading the BCHS site identification process for a new hospital would like to thank everyone who participated in the September consultation on what’s important to consider when identifying a site for a new hospital.
The feedback and ideas shared by community members, local organizations, TeamBCHS, subject matter experts, and First Nations and local Indigenous communities, have been instrumental in helping the Task Force shape the land evaluation criteria that will guide the next step in this process.
“The Brantford-Brant community’s commitment to shaping the future of healthcare in our region is incredible,” said Don Shilton, Chair of the site identification Task Force. “We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives. It’s clear how invested people are in ensuring that the next generation of care is built on a strong foundation.”
As the next step in this process, BCHS will issue a public Call for Land in mid-November. This call will invite landowners to formally submit site proposals for consideration and evaluation by the Task Force.
The Call for Land includes two stages:
- Stage 1: Sites will be reviewed to confirm they meet certain mandatory criteria
- Stage 2: Sites that satisfy the mandatory criteria will advance to a shortlist and be scored against a set of evaluated criteria
Prospective landowners should expect to be asked to submit documentation about their land, including information about the size and configuration of their property, topographical conditions, and other site features that could influence suitability for hospital development. Full details will be available in the Call for Land.
More information about the Call for Land, including the finalized evaluation criteria and submission details, will be shared in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out on reimaginebchs.ca for details.
