We’re proud to share the successful submission of our Stage 1.3 Functional Program to the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health, a significant step forward in the journey in building a new hospital for Brantford-Brant!
At its core, this work reflects our shared vision: to create a hospital where every patient and family feels welcome and valued, every team member is supported, and every connection strengthens the communities we serve.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, insight, and collaboration of our staff, physicians, leaders, BCHS Board of Directors, BCHS Foundation, Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) members, patient partners, and community representatives.
Your contributions have helped shape a plan that is grounded in real experience and reflects the needs of our patients, families, and community.
Over the past year, we undertook a robust and inclusive engagement process to inform this submission:
- More than 35 leaders and physicians contributed to vision and guiding principles.
- Over 125 leaders, physicians, and staff participated in functional program planning.
- 36 user groups engaged in multiple rounds of planning discussions.
- 70+ participants joined super user groups, including PFAC members and patient partners.
- Kick-off sessions and ongoing engagement involved 40+ participants per session.
- In-person blocking and stacking exercises included 50+ participants to explore patient flow and care delivery.
- Ongoing PFAC engagement ensured the patient and family voice was embedded throughout planning.
- Engaged 296 community respondents through the BCHS strategic planning process to inform hospital redevelopment, highlighting a clear preference for a new, modern facility aligned with future community needs.
- Over 150 people were engaged throughout 10 in-person sessions with priority populations ensuring that
the new hospital planning reflects the needs of all the communities we serve.
While this marks a major milestone, it is one step in a longer journey. BCHS will continue working closely with the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health as our submission is reviewed and as we move forward into the next stages of planning.
Together, we are building more than a hospital, we are shaping a healthier, stronger future for our community.
Thank you for your continued dedication and partnership.
