BCHS is proud to announce another major milestone in our Emergency Department Renovation Improvement Project!
After nearly 10 months of construction renovations, the newly renovated Emergency Department (ED) Waiting Room and Triage areas will be opening for patient care on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
These new, modern patient care areas have been thoughtfully re-designed to improve patient flow and privacy, while enhancing the overall experience for patients, families, and staff.
Key features include:
- A bright and spacious main ED Waiting Room
- 3 new private patient triage rooms
- Refreshed patient registration area
- Modern equipment and comfortable furnishings
- An Information Desk located in the newly renovated ED Waiting Room to assist patients and families with wayfinding and navigation
Next Steps: Beginning on June 23, 2026, patients and families accessing the ED will continue entering through the existing 24/7 ED entrance, where a new patient triage process will be in place within the renovated areas.
Enhanced wayfinding and signage will be in place to assist patients, visitors, and staff when navigating these areas.

Community partnerships in action:
Final walkthroughs with Police, EMS, and Fire community partners, Patient and Family Advisors, and Clinical Teams have also been conducted to address safety and accessibility of the newly renovated ED Waiting Room and Triage areas.
This is an exciting step towards reimaging our Emergency Department and we thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work to serve you better.
We would like to sincerely thank the Ontario Ministry of Health, Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation and its donors, our BCHS Redevelopment and construction teams, our Emergency Department care teams and staff, and all of those involved with the project who have worked tirelessly to turn these spaces into reality.
